This is another page from my ninth book called "Dear God". I was inspired to write this book after writing "I am voting for God" on my blog. It continues in that format. Short letters (or prayers) to God. It gives me an opportunity to write more and write to God at different moments in my life.

Dear God,

You have blessed us to see another day. It is Sun-day the 23rd of March. It is early and I am resting in the quiet of the morning. I am hoping for some rain today. These days have been hot and getting hotter. It is the dry season. It feels like the dry seasons have been getting dryer.

Give me the patience to endure the different seasons of life. Let me see the good in every situation. Give me the mindset to make hay while the sun shines, so to speak. Allow me to embrace the winds of change. Give me the ability to brainstorm solutions when I need them.

Remove the clouds from my vision after they have done their job of bringing the rains to clean up my mind. Every cloud has a silver lining, and God, You are mine. I wish for a good forecast for the future. Make me a man for all seasons. For everything there is a season. For everything there is a reason. You are my reason.

It is 515pm and I have decided to write. Today is the day before the holiday and it feels like a Friday. I did not feel like doing anything this afternoon. But I got up and made dinner. Then brush my teeth and bathe. A round of applause to all of us for being alive and making it through the day. There are many things we can applaud ourselves for. How to measure success?

It is 509pm and I have decided to write. How to measure success? That is the question. It is very hard to measure success. I think only God has the true measure of success or failure. Someone may be a failure in this life but a success in the next life. We are told that God looks at intentions and effort. We can also determine our own definition of success. We do not have to let the world define success for us. We think of the world as not being a fair place so any one size fits all definitions of success or failure would be careless and wrong. Many times we think in terms of numbers. The grander the better. But what about quality over quantity? My friend tells me that I am essentially arguing for the democratization of success. I am taking the power away from society, institutions, and algorithms, and handing it back to the individual and God.
