Digicel Trinidad launching eSIM tomorrow (25 Nov 2022)

I was scrolling through Facebook and came across a post stating that according to a leaked memo we will see eSIM launched by Digicel tomorrow


eSIM is a chip embedded in your mobile phone rather than a physical removable plastic piece that we currently use in Trinidad. The US version of the iPhone 14 only supports eSIMs and locals are used to ordering their iPhones from the US. Hopefully this spurs on bmobile to quickly follow.

A search on Digicel's website lead me to this article that gives official information such as "eSIMs will officially launch on 25th November, 2022." Check to see if your phone is supported and decide if you want to switch

Odd dates

Today I learnt that it is tradition and possibly sunnah to eat the dates in odd numbers. I found this interesting and started to do some research. There was even (pun intended) a study done to determine if there is a difference to glucose levels after eating odd or even dates. The conclusion of that study states that there is no difference between ingestion of the odd and even number of dates fleshes from the glycemic point of view on the glucose level in fasting and postprandial states. As a side note, I notice that the word odd has an odd number of letters and the word even has an even number of letters. Also I came across a video once saying that 0 is the most even number. Book Review - Instant Self Hypnosis

I learnt about this book from an MHO. For me it is for dealing with anxiety. But I will see what else I can learn from it. I am skeptical about a title with the word hypnosis in it but let us see. I would have chosen a better title. I do not want to be hypnotized and then cannot snap out of it. So I will be reading this book not calling it hypnosis but taking away the useful bits I could. Instead of hypnotherapy I would have said imagination therapy. Imagination instead of hypnosis. The book addresses issues that affect everyone and that are important in living a fulfilling life. Like removing bad habits, confidence building, goal attainment, and so much more. I like that the author talks about the subconscious mind. So much of our behavior and understanding and decision making and abilities and others depend on our subconscious at least in my layman view. Peace Green

I decided to write. I did not know what to write. Somehow I began thinking about colors. Random colors. Naming colors. I found a website that generated random hex colors. Hex is the color code used in html code. I decided to keep generating a random color until I got a color with 23. The first color I got with 23 I was not fond of. It was a shade of purple. It was a nice color but I wanted a blue or green or gray. The second color I got was #2EAC23 and what immediately stood out to me was that it contained the letters "EAC" which comes from the middle of the word PEACE. I could not find an official name for this color so I gave it my own name which is peace green. The color contains the letters EAC sandwiched between the numbers 2-23 and today's date just so happens to be 2-23 or February 23. The day I found me this color. MDTs Engagement Platform

I have not done a tech blog post in a while even though I have been keeping up somewhat with the local tech space. I was looking for the BOLD plan/document that Mark Lyndersay mentioned in his column and I was directed to this new looking and fancy website. https://engage.gov.tt/en/ It is the engagement front for MDT where they share updates and we can interact and give feedback. I love the idea. The first thing I did was sign up and the first thing I would want to do is share the devs.tt project with them. Also I see that there are 5 weeks left to comment on the BOLD plan. When signing up to access the website I noticed that the email confirmation came from citizenlab.co (Now "go vocal") which is a third party community engagement platform. I like the idea and I think it is much needed and I hope it bears fruit. BOLD stands for Building Our Lives Digitally. This has me thinking about the long lines of traffic that we experience locally. Theodore Isaac Rubin once said, "Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom." This shows that we are aware of our own limitations. We realize that we do not have all the answers, and that we need the help and support of others. We also realize that our own happiness and well-being are interconnected with the happiness and well-being of others. It reminds us that being a good person is often more important than being a knowledgeable one. What is the use of being intelligent? Why do I want or need to be intelligent? I want to be happy and comfortable and I want others to be happy and comfortable. Can I have this without being intelligent?
