You are the light

This is another page from my ninth book called "Dear God". I was inspired to write this book after writing "I am voting for God" on my blog. It continues in that format. Short letters (or prayers) to God. It gives me an opportunity to write more and write to God at different moments in my life.

Dear God,

It is early in the morning and the current is gone. The light from my phone screen illuminates my space as I type this. I pull the curtain and I look through the window and I see the moon and it shines eloquently.

This time is full of silence but I know that You are listening. You are always listening. I can talk to You at any time. I can talk to You always. I can talk to You even when I have nothing to say. I can talk to You when I cannot put the right words together.

I turn my phone off for a moment. It is pitch dark. I am reminded that You are the light. Please light my way. Please light my path. Please illuminate my mind with all that is good. Please let me see where I am going. Please shine Your light and mercy and goodness on my world and the world we live in.

The world needs Your light more than ever. You are a beacon of hope. A candle in the dark. Let good win over bad. Let light win over darkness. You are the light. The ultimate light. The source of all light. Please make things right with Your light.

Seeking the light

It is so easy when I write to You. So easy when I write from the heart. I notice that the word our is in the word journey. This is our journey. We are never alone on our journey. You are always there with us. Through the good and the bad. Give thanks. 273 days ago I tweeted "God keep me humble on this journey". You did not give up on me and I did not not give up on You. I keep calling on You to guide me, protect me and have mercy on me. It is an interesting concept. It all started today when I watched a math video involving the axiom of choice. We say that You are infinitely powerful. But what does this mean? Infinity means that there is no end. Infinity is not a state. Infinity is not a noun. Infinity does not exist for us. If something is growing or moving without ever ending (perpetual) then it has the quality of being infinite. When discussing infinity we can use precision and limits to wrap our minds around the concept. Mosquitos in heaven

A mosquito just flew past and between my face and the mobile phone. I have no idea what I want to write. I looked at the word mosquito and I found that it resembles the word mosque. The mosque is considered a house of God. The mosquito is mentioned in a parable in the Quran. There is also a hadith that tells us that this world is not worth as much as the wing of a mosquito in the sight of God. This is a reminder for me. Even the smallest of things are proof of Your greatness and while this creation is a masterpiece, its value is nothing compared to the hereafter. I wonder if there is any chance of the rain falling tonight? I have not read the forecast. Everything comes and goes in waves. God saves. Today is already the 13th of the 4th month. They say time waits on no one. Just the other day we were celebrating the new year. Time waits on no one except God I suppose. We often speak of God's timing. I just read that God waits for all.
